OWC Walks

The OWC asks a $1 activity fee per adult per walk. Walkers may also be responsible for entrance fees and car fees at parks that we may visit.

Our walks are limited during the Summer and Winter months. The following two walks are planned for Wednesday evenings in July. We will hold a special event at Mahoney State Park at the end of August, during which we will also sponsor a walk. Our weekly Sunday walks will begin once again in September. If you wish to be placed upon a mailing list from which you will be notified of our walks, please let us know through our Contact Form.

WALKS IN OUR RECENT PAST

#2641 Sunday, February 15, 2009 – Southeast Lake Manawa, Iowa There are no picnic shelters, so dress warmly. Park restrooms are locked in Winter. Take L Street east from Omaha across Soth Omaha Bridge to Iowa. This is also US Highway 275. At the intersection with the South Expressway (Iowa 192; you can also get to this point via I-80 from Omaha taking the second southboudn Exit 3 in Council Bluffs), turn right and follow the road (North Shore Drive, via Comanche and Navajo Streets) with Lake Manawa 10 or 15 yards to your right. Eventually the road leaves the shore behind. About 1/2 mile later, turn right into Lake Manawa State Park. About 0.6 or 0.7 miles into the park, locate a small parking lot on the left side of the road marked "Nature Trail." We will meet at the parking lot at 2 pm.

Meet to carpool at 2 PM at the parking lot east of Johnny's Cafe on the south side of L St. just west of Kennedy Freeway.
