Welcome
The Omaha Walking Club is a registered nonprofit group founded in 1919 to support those who like to walk and those who like the outdoors. This site is dedicated to past and present members of the OWC. We invite you to look through our pages. If you share our interests, you can visit us or contact us for more information.
You do not have to be a member to come on any of our walks. In fact, we welcome new people! If you see a walk that you are interested in, please join us. If you have questions about how to get there, contact one of us for help or instructions.
Pedestrian Bridge Opening - Sunday September 28
The official opening of the pedestrian bridge across the Missouri River occurred on Sunday September 28, 2008, between noon and 3 PM. The Omaha Walking Club participated by setting up a booth and passing out literature about our club.
I have posted some pictures of the event in the Photo area of this website. Most of them focus directly upon OWC activities during this event. Those who wish to see some more general photos of the bridge can find them at the Talk Omaha website.
Special People
Occasionally, one of our friends or family members will pass on. We would love to post more information about the event here upon the website. The survivors are just as important to us as those who we lost, and we would like to let them know that.
But, as this is a very public form of communication, we choose instead to show some discretion about the details. Privacy is sometimes important. Please, if you are one of these survivors, be aware that we also mourn for your loss. "We care."
