The Omaha Walking Club was formed in 1919 for those who like to walk and those who like the outdoors. We are a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors and numerous committees to help facilitate our activiies.

We invite you to look things over on our web site. You may join us upon any of our walks or visit us at our clubhouse on a Sunday afternoon.

Wednesday-evening Walks in July and August

(You may find more information about these walks in our calendar. Because of the anticipated heat, we keep our walks shorter and hold them in the evenings during this part of the year. We will return to our normal Sunday walks in September.)

July 7 - Prospect Hill Cemetery Walk begins at 6:30 pm at 3202 Parker St. Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

July 14 - Dundee area Walk will begin at 4808 Davenport St. Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

July 28 - Old Market Walk Meet at 12th and Leavenworth. Bring a little extra money for ice cream. Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

August 4 - NP Dodge Park This walk will begin in Florence Park at 30th and State St. Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

August 18 - Jewell Park Meet at the Jewell Park Dog parking lot at Coombs Road in Bellevue. Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

August 25 - Regency Walk Meet at the west end of the parking lot between the 444 Regency Building and the US Bank (nearest I-680). Walk begins at 6:30 p.m.

Pre-season Sunday Picnic, Activities and Walk

WHEN: Sunday, August 29, 2010
WHERE: Mahoney State Park

Schedule for the Day:

    12:00(noon) – Meet at Administration Building just to the East of the Park Entrance. From there, we will travel to the picnic site for lunch. Please bring a dish to share, your own table service and beverage.

    1:00 – 3:45 – A variety of activities are available to enjoy – paddle boats, miniature golf, horseback riding, swimming. The cost of most of the activities varies from $5.00/person to $15.00/person. Horseback riding has to be scheduled when you arrive.

    3:45 – Meet at Administration Building for start of walk (around 2 – 2 ½ miles). The walk will last until about 5:30 pm.

    6:00 – Meet back at picnic site for supper. The walk chairs will furnish hot dogs, buns, condiments, and chips, as well as sodas and water. We will also eat what remains of the covered dishes from lunch.

    7:00 – on – For those who wish to stay longer, there is a Melodrama at the theatre, cards or possible other activities.

You may participate in all of the activities or any combination, but please RSVP for the picnic and the walk, so we know how many to expect. To RSVP, contact either Mark or Judy.

Car pools can be arranged once we have a better idea of who is attending. And remember, every car entering the park must have either an annual sticker or a one-day sticker. These can be purchased at the gate or the administration building.
